Heritage Diesel Days

04-May-2019 – 06-May-2019
Heritage Diesel Days; 4, 5, 6 May

Featuring Double-headed Diesels with visitor D9551 and our own D9516 running double and single headed at various times throughout the day. They will be hauling passenger coaches and freight trains at different times.

Our own diesel railcar No 22 of 1941 vintage will also be giving train rides.

You will, as usual, be able to view our collections of locomotives, coaches, wagons and railway buildings brought from various parts of the Great Western Railway system.

Discover Brunel's Broad Gauge, the 1930s Engine Shed and the Carriage Shed.

Control the Great Western Railway main line in the heyday of InterCity 125 high speed trains on the Swindon Panel in The Signalling Centre.

Visit the Museum and Archive and our restoration workshops. Watch our own trains and the modern passenger and freight trains from our Picnic Area.

You can walk around the only surviving steam age loco depot in its original condition, and get up close to our large collection of locomotives which are so much more impressive when seen from ground level. Why not explore the rest of the centre including the Archie Trail, the Science Learning & Railways interactive exhibition and visit our shop and refreshment room?
You can buy tickets online at any time prior to the day of your visit - or buy them at the entrance on arrival. To book see our website
